What are the names of your kids and how did you choose their names?

My daughter, Mary Jane, is 18 months old and was named after some very special and inspirational women. Mary is after my mother-in-law and my sister. Jane is after my godmother who is more like a grandmother to me.

The best piece of advice you have ever received:

Listen to your baby. They tell you everything they need.

What is some good parenting advice or tips you would give to new moms?

Don’t read too much. If you are parenting by listening to your baby (see above) and your gut you won’t go wrong. If you are too busy thinking “am I doing this right?” because “the book said…” you will drive yourself crazy and miss the signals that your baby is giving you. Do what is best for you, your baby, and your family. Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’.

If you had one free day all to yourself, what would you do?

Wake up whenever I wanted to. The rest of the day would be a bonus from there.

What is your favorite way to spend time with your kids and family?

Just in our family room playing little games, watching MJ chase the dogs or complete a puzzle… whatever makes her smile makes my husband and I smile.

What are some of your interests?

I am in Human Resources at the public accounting firm, BBD, LLP (www.bbdcpa.com) where I get to do on a daily basis what I really love- interacting with people.

Because I love people so much it also lends itself to my love of entertaining. Having people over to our house for dinner parties or bar-b-ques is one of my favorite things to do. Bringing people together and having my house explode with laughter and fun is the best feeling in the world.

Which Baby Be Hip product is your favorite to send as a gift?

My new favorite is the Pretty In Pink set. The personalized tote bag, bib and burp cloth make a great gift at a reasonable price. We just sent it to a new dad at our firm and he and his wife raved about it!

From your corporate perspective, what’s the benefit of sending a baby gift to clients or colleagues?

Flowers die, candy gets eaten, and fruit goes bad. Once those things are out of people’s sights… so is your company’s gesture. Giving a gift from BBH is a constant reminder about your company and your thoughtfulness isn’t lost during a very exciting and sometimes overwhelming time.
