MY LITTLE TOWHEAD

MY LITTLE TOWHEAD

Aug 29th 2019

This blog post comes from BBH team member Beth!

My daughter Mary Rose is a blue eyed blondie. Some people call her a “towhead”. I never knew what the heck that meant, so I looked it up after the 100th time I heard it. Apparently, it refers to a very old German word for flax or straw. I’m picturing golden straw after it has gone through a spinning wheel, like the children’s story, Rumplestilzkin. Anyway.. Let me tell you about my little “towhead”….

As a baby, it became evident to me that Mary Rose had an unusual gift- she could read my mind! Even before she could talk, I felt a special “ET/Elliot” connection. When she did become verbal, she would often finish my sentences or do what I was thinking without being told. I found this so intriguing and I would often test her. One test was undeniable, so I have to share it… She was on the changing table and I decided to prove what I was certain to be true. I didn’t speak. I just said Elmo (her favorite Muppet at the time). I said “Elmo” over and over and over and over again in my mind. “Elmo Elmo Elmo Elmo Elmo…..” She looked up at me with a grimace on her face and shouted, “NO MORE MELMO MOMMY!” I couldn’t believe my ears! My test worked! I proved that she could most definitely read my mind! I was blown away. I talked to my father- in-law about this. He is one of the most skeptic people I know when it comes to supernatural activity, spirits, psychics etc. So I was very interested in what his reaction to my incredible experience was going to be… Surprisingly, he told me that he thought mental telepathy was a very real thing. His explanation: “we deal with radio waves, cellular waves, micro waves on a daily basis, your situation involved brain waves. It’s a possibility that Mary Rose is able to receive your brain waves.” Yes! Brain waves! I’ll take that explanation–but it doesn’t explain other events….

Mary Rose was also known to have some psychic abilities where she just knew things. Once she asked me before bedtime what would happen if her Daddy got into a car accident….guess what happened that very night?! Luckily, it was a fender bender, and her Daddy was OK, but we were amazed at our little Mary Rose and her “crystal ball”. She also told me who was at the door once when it was impossible for her to see who was there- “Mommy, Muzzy and Poppy are at the door!” Freaky, huh? Now that she is older (9), this doesn’t happen as often, but when she does have a gut feeling or trepidation about something, I always take her very seriously!

So my little “Sylvia Browne” has peaked my interest and I often find myself poking around on Google to see if there is any solid, scientific evidence that mental telepathy really exists. What I have found in my (very amateur) research is that 1) it is not scientifically proven that mental telepathy is real. (I don’t care, I have my proof!) 2) Recorded psychic ability/clairvoyance seems to be more prevalent in blue eyed, blonde haired people (towheads?) and 3) Children tend to lose their psychic ability or “gift” as they grow. Bummer…..

So let’s put it out there… do any of you (Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents) have any stories like mine? Any children telling stories of loved ones who have passed, any mindreading or predicting the future like my Mary Rose? Let’s hear it!
